Rainy Day In June by UriahGallery Rainy Day In June by UriahGallery
The year is 1883. You find yourself looking out of a window in your father's cabin, waiting for the rain to stop. Puddles fill the old dirt path leading from the cabin and into the forest. The air smells of rain and birds can be heard in the trees as the rain finally begins to come to a slow trickle.

The dark, wooded background makes the perfect setting for this weathered glimpse of history; however, I might have considered employing either a more angled shot, to lend it a bit more drama, or considered utilizing an antiquing filter or effect, to make the image seem like it was stolen from the past. Additionally, the overall darkness of the photo obscures some of the details of the wonderful craftsmanship employed in building this cabin, leaving it standing, still, after all these years. Perhaps a "paint with light" darkroom technique could be employed to selectively highlight the cabin? I almost wish there were a face in the dark window...

This is a moment frozen in time. The stacked stone chimney is amazing. I could really see such a shot from the 1800s just with a little less color. :)
